Skin And Cosmetic Allergies Treatment

Topical corticosteroids are the mainstays of treating contact allergic rashes due to makeup, as they are for treating contact rashes due to other causes such as poison ivy. Usually only a short course of medium-potency products (for example, Aclovate, Elocon, Locoid, or Westcort creams) or low-potency products (for example, Hytone 2.5%) may be needed for between one and three weeks. High-potency steroids, because of their tendency to prematurely thin skin, are generally avoided on the more delicate skin of the face, especially the eyelids. Severe exudative and blistering rashes may additionally require a brief, tapering course of oral corticosteroids.
